"GET YOUR KICKS ON ROUTE 66"

Labor Day weekend, Les and I headed north for some cooler temperatures. Les is a history buff, and enjoys many different historic adventures. One of the things he has had fun doing, is traveling the historic "Route 66 Highway", or the "Mother Road" as Steinbeck called it. We started in Kingman, Arizona, and traveled to Winslow, Arizona. Les has traveled a good portion of the highway from Chicago, to Santa Monica, California. And will someday finish the rest.

I don't know if you can spot the easy-rider guy on the motor cycle. But it was so funny, because here we are all enjoying the sights here at the Oatman Station, when here comes this Japanese guy all decked out as an easy rider guy on a hog. It was just so funny!!

Oatman, Arizona is another classic little roadside stop with a '62 Corvette parked in front. The interesting thing when you stop at all these fun places, is you are never alone. There are tour busses, classic cars, and all kinds of people everywhere, all taking in the same historic spots.
This is the famous old barbershop in Seligman, just down from the Snow Cap Drive Inn, the owner still cutting hair in this famous little shop.
One of our favorite little spots was Seligman, Arizona. It is famous for the "Snow Cap Drive Inn" . Still in business. The owner was such a joker. We laughed our heads off here. I asked for a small chocolate ice cream cone. He came out with a chopped off cone about 1/2 inch high with a little bit of ice cream in it, handed it to me. Serious as could be. He shook a mustard bottle at me, and confetti strips flew out when he greeted us. Then he just laughed. It would be nice if we all could have that much fun with our everyday jobs.
We ate lunch at this fun classic restaurant in Williams, Arizona.

This is the Flagstaff "Route 66" Museum Club.

WINSLOW, ARIZONA

The flatbed Ford. So classic!!!"It's a girl my....., in a flat bed Ford, slowing down to take a look at me."

" Standing on the corner in Winslow Arizona, a mighty fine sight to see."

Winslow Arizona has been made famous from a song created by "The Eagles", "Standing on the corner in Winslow Arizona. We had such a fun time on this trip!
